Frequently Asked Questions
How old do you have to be to start music lessons?
Students must be at least 5 years of age to begin private piano lessons.
The minimum age for guitar and ukulele lessons is 7.
Although not required, we recommend that students start with at least 1 year of piano lessons before moving on to ukulele or guitar. This ensures that each student will understand the basics of reading music (notes on the staff, rhythm, etc.)
If you are interested in starting your child in music lessons at a younger age, we recommend enrolling in our Kindermusik program.
Do I need to own an instrument to take lessons?
Yes. It is necessary to have access to an instrument for regular practice in order to progress.
Can my child prepare for Royal Conservatory Examinations?
Absolutely! Our teachers are able to prepare students for RCM exams if they choose to do so. Completion of Grade 8 or higher along with the corresponding theory exam is recognized as an secondary school music credit in BC.
Do you offer lessons for adults?
Of course! Adults are always welcome!
