If you are planning on doing a Royal Conservatory exam, 1 hour lessons are mandatory for grades 2 and above.
Lesson must be paid for in advance by credit, debit, cash, cheque (made payable to your instructor), or email transfer due the 1st of each month. Please be diligent with your payments. Failure to pay on time may result in a discontinuation of lessons.
Lesson books will be invoiced separately, as required.
A Word About Payment
What you pay for music lessons is essentially tuition. It is not calculated as an hourly fee for services rendered because teaching is more than the time we spend with your child. Tuition also covers preparation time, studio expenses, property taxes, self-employment taxes, insurance, business licenses, retirement, continuing education, and certification costs.
Getting the Most Out of Your Lesson
An outline of what is to be practised will be provided at each lesson. For beginners, one focused practice period of at least 10 minutes, 5 days a week is recommended. As students progress, more daily practice will be needed to ensure they enjoy the satisfaction of playing well!
Parents are invited to attend the final 5 minutes of each lesson to have their child show them what needs to be prepared for the coming week, and of course, to perform! We ask that parents allow 25 minutes of one-on-one teacher/student instruction time.
Cancelled and Missed Lessons
Cancelled or missed lessons (without 24 hours notice) cannot be refunded or rescheduled. If your instructor has to cancel a lesson, arrangements for rescheduling will be made.
If your child will be absent for more than 3 consecutive weeks (ie. Holiday or non-illness related absence) a deposit equal to half month’s tuition for each month he or she will be absent is required to reserve the lesson time. Payment is non-refundable and is due before the leave of absence occurs.
Lessons will not be schedule for long weekends or holidays.
Please arrive a few minutes before your lesson time starts. Time lost because of a student’s lateness cannot be made up.
If the need arises to discontinue music lessons, we request 30-day written notice.
